Ryan Braun’s quest at an inside-the-park home run last night ended rather abruptly after he did a theatrical face plant shortly after rounding third base. The Brewers’ left fielder’s performance may have earned so many laughs from the fans, including longtime Knicks nemesis Reggie Miller, that oft-cranky Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa elected not order any of his pitchers to “pitch him in” the rest of the game.
A few innings later, Braun used up the remaining fumes in his jet pack with this great running catch.
Nonetheless, the Cardinals won, 8-3, thanks to a grand slam by starter Jake Westbrook, of all people.
