Trade Deadline Round-Up

Let’s cut to the chase, shall we?  Here are the deals that went down since the Fister deal was consummated yesterday morning.

The Indians bagged this year’s proverbial elephant, acquiring Ubaldo Jimenez  from the Rockies for four yongsters: righties Joe Gardner, Alex White, first baseman Matt McBride, and a player to be named later presumed to be last year’s first-round draft choice, southpaw Drew Pomeranz.

Oft-injured starter Rich Harden Erik Bedard is heading from the A’s Mariners to the Red Sox in exchange for minor league first baseman Lars Anderson in a deal also involving the Dodgers and a slew of minor leaguers: reliever Josh Fields (Mariners to Red Sox); outfielder Chih-Hsien Chiang (Red Sox to Mariners); catcher Tim Federowicz, starter Stephen Fife, and reliever Juan Rodriguez (Red Sox to Dodgers); and outfielder Trayvon Robinson (Dodgers to Mariners). Got all that?

The Royals sent middle infielder Mike Aviles to Boston for rookie infielder Yamaico Navarro and minor league reliever Kendal Volz.

The Braves acquired Astros center fielder Michael Bourn for four minor leaguers: 2010 Opening Day center fielder Jordan Schafer, Brett Oberholtzer, starter Paul Clemens, and reliever Juan Abreu.

A little more than two hours before he was slated to take the mound against the Mets last night, the Nationals dealt Jason Marquis to the Diamondbacks for shortstop prospect Zach Walters.

The Rangers acquired two set-up men on consecutive days: first, they obtained Koji Uehara from the Orioles for a pair of 25-year-old major leaguers — first baseman Chris Davis and starter Tommy Hunter; second, they acquired righty Mike Adams from the Padres for minor-league arms Robbie Erlin and Joe Wieland.

The O’s also unloaded Derrek Lee’s salary, sending him to the Pirates in exchange for minor league first baseman Aaron Baker. Pittsburgh also nabbed Ryan Ludwick from the Padres for a player to be named later.

The Cardinals acquired shortstop Rafael Furcal from the Dodgers, sending minor-league outfielder Alex Castellanos as compensation.

Other deals: The Brewers made three minor deals that netted utility man Jerry Hairston Jr. from the Nationals and infielder Felipe Lopez from the Rays, while trading backup catcher Will Nieves to the Braves. . . . The Diamondbacks picked up reliever Brad Ziegler from the A’s. . . . San Francisco grabbed middle infielder Orlando Cabrera from the Indians. . . . The Nationals acquired outfielder Johnny Gomes from the Reds.
