In an op-ed in Education Week and in a short essay at Heritage, policy scholars Andrew Biggs and Jason Richwine reply to their critics on the subject of teacher compensation. Biggs and Richwine courted controversy by arguing that U.S. public K-12 teachers tend to be compensated somewhat more than they would be in the private sector, given their skill endowments ($1.52 for every $1 they would earn in the private sector). They’ve handled themselves admirably.
