The Agenda

Brief Thought on The Social Network

Irin Carmon of the feminist blog Jezebel has written a very insightful post on The Social Network that offers a more complete picture of the origins of Facebook. Nicholas Carlson of Business Insider and David Kirkpatrick of The Daily Beast are also worth your time.

And Jose Antonio Vargas has a smart profile of Mark Zuckerberg in The New Yorker that sheds light Aaron Sorkin’s “extreme dislike of the blogosphere and social media.” The Social Network is worth watching. But keep in mind that the narrative presented in the film has only a tenuous connection to reality. and that the story is told through the prism of a screenwriter who, as Lawrence Lessig argues, doesn’t seem to understand how innovative entrepreneurship works.
