Kyle Niemeyer on America’s Uncertain Nuclear Future

At Ars Technica, Kyle Niemeyer has an excellent primer on the challenges facing the U.S. nuclear power industry, drawing on a recent report from the Federation of American Scientists and Washington & Lee University. Perhaps the greatest challenge to the nuclear industry is that, in the absence of carbon taxes, electricity can’t come close to competing with electricity from natural gas — at least not yet.
