Mitch Daniels Raises Important Questions

In an op-ed published in today’s Wall Street Journal, Mitch Daniels, the governor of Indiana, raised a number of important questions about the implementation of PPACA. After arguing that the new health law will burden states with new expenditures that were not properly accounted for during the health reform debate, he offers HHS a grand bargain. Basically, the state of Indiana would agree to establish a new health exchange if the federal government revamped the law to give states a far greater degree of flexibility. I was impressed by the piece, but I do hope the governor is cultivating allies on the other side of the aisle. His argument would have more resonance if it were embraced by Democratic as well as Republican governors.
