Ryan Holeywell on CA HSR vs. TX HSR

Ryan Holeywell of Governing has a short article on the Texas Central High-Speed Railway, a project led by Robert Eckels, the former executive of Harris County, to build a privately-financed bullet train linking Houston and Dallas. Though I am inclined to embrace Brad Templeton’s take on high-speed rail, Texas Central and Florida East Coast Industries’ new effort to offer high-speed passenger rail service between Miami and Orlando both strike me as promising signs that passenger rail has a non-Amtrak, or perhaps post-Amtrak, future.
