Voegeli and Noah on Inequality

Recently, William Voegeli, a senior editor of the Claremont Review of Books and author of Never Enough, had an illuminating exchange with Timothy Noah, a senior editor at The New Republic and author of The Great Divergence, on how to interpret rising income inequality. I recommend taking a look. In keeping with his (excellent) recent book, Voegeli emphasizes the question of means: if we stipulate that we want government to redress economic inequalities, how should it go about doing so? Are we going about it in a particularly constructive, well-tailored way? And is there some desirable end-state at which we can declare victory?
