The Campaign Spot

Additional Highlights of the Rick Davis-Steve Schmidt conference call

McCain campaign official Rick Davis: “After we offered a convention that had an inordinate impact on the campaign, and that offered a clear message, the Obama campaign decided to go very negative, very hard. They have called Senator McCain and Governor Palin “liars”, and we’re amazed they’ve gone this personal to this extent, particularly after spending much of the past two years saying they weren’t going to run a campaign like this. And I’m astonished the media has not covered the kind of campaign that they are offering right now.”

Come on. He didn’t really expect the MSM to hold Obama and Axelrod up to scrutiny, did he?
(Granted, he’s on a conference call with reporters, and this is probably as close as Davis could get to saying, ‘do your jobs, people.’)
Hugh Hewitt asked about the revelations of The Jawa Report about the connections between slanderous anti-Palin YouTube videos and a firm with close ties to Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod. Schmidt urged “the reporters on this line” to see if there are connections between the firms.
