The Campaign Spot

An Anniversary That Quietly Creeped Up This Year

The seven year anniversary of 9/11 sure seemed to creep up quietly this year. Maybe it’s the intensity of a close, hard-fought campaign, or just a sign of how much the threat of terrorism has slowly receded from the forefront of our minds, as we’ve turned our attention to problems with Americans’ gas tanks, mortgages, 401(k)s, etc.

It’s both wonderful news that Americans no longer live with the day to day fear that their homes and workplaces will be blown up, and a bit worrisome. We felt safe on September 10, 2001, too.
But as I said four years ago, ” take a moment to hug your loved ones today and be happy you’re alive.”
