Free advice for any candidate who wants it: Open a can of whoop-ass on John Murtha for calling a group of Marines operating in Haditha, Iraq guilty of murder. Murtha compared it to My Lai. The hearing officer has recommended the charges be dropped, declaring, “The government version is unsupported by independent evidence… To believe the government version of facts is to disregard clear and convincing evidence to the contrary.”
UPDATE: Breaking now, the investigating officer has recommended one Marine Lt. Col. should face a court-martial for dereliction of duty, declaring, “He failed to thoroughly and accurately report and investigate a combat engagement that clearly needed scrutiny.”
