The Campaign Spot

Charges Back and Forth Like a Ping Pong Ball

Hillary says she “voted no on Dick Cheney’s energy bill, Obama voted yes.”

Obama hits Hillary for saying she was “co-president” during the Clinton years, and selectively taking credit for parts of Bill’s presidency.
You know what’s interesting? We’ve heard much, much less Bush-bashing tonight than usual, and it’s because the candidates can’t spare time to go after the bogeyman to liberal Democratic primary voters; they have to focus their fire on each other.
Russert is moderating this debate like he knows he’ll never get invited back again, and that neither candidate will ever appear on “Meet the Press” again.
Ohhhhh… Terrible move, Hillary urges people to visit her web site to contribute funds, during an answer on whether she will disclose who has paid President Clinton, money that has now been loaned to her campaign.
Russert asks about Louis Farrakhan: Do you accept his support?
Obama: “I have been clear in my denunciation of Farrakhan’s anti-Semitic remarks. I did not seek this support. I can’t censor him, but this is not something we sought. We are not doing anything formally or informally.”
Obama is saying all the right things, but I wonder how many voters are wondering, “If Farrakhan likes him, what don’t I know about Obama that may have spurred that support?”
Hillary said that Obama was sincere, but could have been stronger. Obama says there’s no difference between rejecting and renouncing.
Urgh. That seems to be a bridge too far for Hillary.
