Contrasting Coverage of Biden’s and Palin’s Children

Deep down, I don’t think the 2002 arrest of Joe Biden’s daughter on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing a police officer is a big deal, or even a middling deal. But it’s interesting that just about none of the coverage of Biden’s selection mentioned it, contrasted with the white-hot spotlight on Palin’s children. Everything we’ve seen suggests Senator Biden is a fine father, and he and Biden have made admirable statements about keeping families out of the race. But maybe they ought to call out particular news groups who cross the line; when they see coverage of the other side that is unacceptable, their public expressions of specific disapproval would go a long way.
