Could Bennett’s Defeat Mean a GOP Convention in Phoenix or Tampa?

A reader offers this thought:

Bennett’s ouster may have an unintended consequence for Salt Lake City . . . As I’m sure you’re aware, SLC was one of the 3 finalists for the 2012 GOP convention along with Phoenix and Tampa. How much you want to bet that if Salt Lake was considered it now no longer is? Our delegates just gave the boot to an establishment Republican. There is no way the RNC will reward us for that.

I think Salt Lake City had a tough pitch to begin with; the conventiongoers and the thousands upon thousands of members of the press who cover them love to drink, and Utah liquor laws are stricter than in most states.

Because of temperature in late summer 2012, I suspect Tampa will be the choice.
