From the New Haven Advocate, we find an extraordinarily revealing quote about the way voters are evaluating their lawmakers:
Meaghan Campbell likes Jodi Rell’s honesty.
“There’s no scandal attached to her,” says Campbell, a 56-year-old financial planner we met on the manicured main drag in New Canaan. “She’s a middle-of-the-road type of person. Her religious ideas are her own ideas. She thinks about the wealthy but also people who live on the edge.”
The words can’t quite capture the tone, but I’m sensing a vibe of pleasant surprise. Which probably means trouble for Connecticut lawmakers who are attached to scandal, or gobs of them, at this moment.
