Another one of those political scandal stories that are just under the radar:

The embattled mayor of Hartford, Eddie A. Perez, surrendered to the Connecticut State Police on Wednesday morning amid fresh charges of bribery and corruption that have engulfed one of the nation’s poorest cities in political scandal…
Prosecutors filed charges against Mr. Perez, a Democrat, on Wednesday, accusing him of extortion and conspiracy involving a no-bid parking lot deal with Abraham Giles, a former state representative. Mr. Giles, 83, a supporter of Mr. Perez, was charged with extortion and bribery in the scheme. He also turned himself in on Wednesday.
