Deeds Jumps to Lead in First Virginia General-Election Poll

Now that’s some serious momentum: Rasmussen’s first general-election poll of Virginia’s governor’s race puts Democrat Creigh Deeds ahead of Republican Bob McDonnell, 47 percent to 41 percent.

UPDATE: Some interesting wrinkles in the internals. McDonnell leads among unaffiliated voters by 7 percentage points. Deeds’s lead comes from 89 percent of Virginia Democrats favoring him while McDonnell lags a bit with the support of 78 percent of Republicans.

Rasmussen also finds Obama’s approval rating in Virginia to be the surprisingly modest 52 percent, with 46 percent disapproval.
