The Democrats’ Early Voting Advantage in Iowa Is… About What They Had Last Time, When Bush Won The State

A reader notes this, in an Obama campaign memo:

Iowa – early and absentee voting, this year so far:

Democrat: 132,882, 50%

Republican:76,689, 29%

Other: 53,787,20%

Iowa – 2004 Final Early and Absentee Vote Numbers:

Democrat: 185,115, 48%

Republican: 118,167, 30%

Other:86,071, 22%

In otherwords, the Democrats’ advantage in early voting in Iowa is a little bit higher than what they had last time, when Bush won the state by a small margin…

UPDATE: Interesting. In Florida, Republicans had a 43-42 advantage in early and absentee voting in 2004, when Bush won by 5 percent. This year it is…43-43.

Democrats are doing much better in New Mexico, relative to 2004, and Colorado. They are doing better in North Carolina, but remember that they led that state 48-37 in early voting in 2004, and Bush won that state by 11 points. Lots of conservative Bush-voting Democrats in the Tarheel State, it seems.
