The Democrats Showcased One of Their Rising Stars in 2004, And Look What Happened

I have no real gripe with Rudy Giuliani giving the keynote address of the GOP Convention; I thought his 2004 speech to the convention was a great one. But I hope organizers don’t miss the opportunity to spotlight the GOP’s rising stars, many of whom have been mentioned as possible McCain running mates: Jindal, Palin, Pawlenty, Cantor…

UPDATE: Good. The complete list includes Palin, Jindal, Pawlenty, Gov. Charlie Crist, Gov. Jon Huntsman, Gov. Linda Lingle, Michael Steele, Sen. Norm Coleman, and others to be named later.
It also includes former rivals Huckabee, Giuliani, Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney and Sam Brownback.
Ridge speaks Tuesday. Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina speak Wednesday.
It also includes old standbys, Lieberman, Schwarzenegger, Vice President Cheney, President and Laura Bush.
Missing from the list? Cantor.
