Des Moines Democrat Holding Town Hall a Mere 80 Miles Away From Des Moines

I can’t begrudge a guy when he’s got a big district and wants to hit some of those easy-to-miss, far-flung corners, but this seems a little fishy.

You better gas up the beater if you want to catch U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell in a room full of constituents talking about health care this month.

Boswell, a Des Moines Democrat, is holding one health-care “listening post,”  but it’s  in Sigourney, 80 miles east of Des Moines.

In fairness, Boswell’s district spreads from the Des Moines area south and east, covering about a dozen counties in rural Iowa.

But Sigourney is about as far from the district’s population center as he can get.

By the way, it’s at the Sigourney Public Library at 2 p.m.

Hey, aren’t we supposed to send “fishy” developments to flag@whitehouse.gov ?

UPDATE: I guess Iowans should be thankful; Boswell could be one of those lawmakers you have to go all the way to the South Pole to find.
