I’m told that the Republican Governors Public Policy Committee, an affiliate of the Republican Governors Association, will be spending seven figures to put up this ad on California airwaves:
Meg Whitman leads the primary by a healthy margin, and she leads Brown in most polls by a few points. I suspect ads like this one are efforts to “define the battlespace” for the election — while Californians probably know who Jerry Brown is, the apolitical types may not know what to think of him. Ads like this will attempt to cement the “tax-hiking, big-spending, out-of touch” labels to him.
