Does the Stimulus Do Windows?

A revealing detail in a Washington Post story on how “in Ohio, everyone who knows anyone in Washington or Columbus is picking up the telephone” to lobby for stimulus funds.

“I’ve had a hundred e-mails from every little university that wants new windows,” said Ronald Richards, appointed as the state’s “infrastructure czar” by Strickland to review bids for the federal dollars that are routed through the governor’s office.

Judging from how Obama’s pretty much forgotten his pledge to post all nonemergency legislation on WhiteHouse.gov before signing it, some new windows might be the only “improved transparency” that we’re going to get.
