I don’t oppose the tougher stance on employers that incoming Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is promising when she takes over.
Although we ought to keep an eye on the fine print:
But Janet Napolitano told members of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs that she can’t promise them that more companies will be prosecuted. That decision, she said, is made by the Department of Justice.
The words “illegal immigration” and “border security” did not appear in Attorney General nominee’s Eric Holder’s opening statement. He did mention the Justice Department’s role in “preserving the environment” and the need to “reinvigorate” DOJ’s role in “food and drug safety and consumer product safety.”
