I’m seeing some bloggers and Twitter folk mention Michael Steele as the first African-American to head either party, but that is not the case; Ron Brown was elected to head the DNC in 1989. However, Steele is only the second African-American to head either party.
Jan Larimer has been elected Co-Chair of the party.
