The Campaign Spot

Fred Thompson’s Going Back to Acting

When I posted this item back in late January, suggesting Fred Thompson might run for office someday and that the most likely office was the governorship of Tennessee in 2010, I heard from some other Thompson folks who were very skeptical that the former senator would return to political life. He had a happy, lucrative, and rewarding life before his presidential campaign, and in their eyes, he didn’t seem eager to go back to the daily indignities of campaigning.

Well, for now, at least, Thompson appears likely to remain in the acting business:

Hollywood’s high-powered William Morris Agency announced this week that it has signed the actor/politician, signaling a return to the screen for the former senator from Tennessee.

I hope Arthur Branch comes back to run against Jack McCoy for District Attorney.
