Gallup Finds Democrats at All-Time Low on Generic Ballot

Not only is the GOP’s 50 percent to 43 percent the largest margin they’ve ever enjoyed in the generic-ballot question, the Democrats’ 43 percent is, I believe, their lowest in Gallup’s history. They trailed, 44 percent to 49 percent, in July 1994 and trailed, 44 percent to 46 percent, in January 2002. Beyond that, according to the chart on Gallup’s site, the party has never been below that level (and rarely strayed far from 50 percent).
