Go Figure: CEO Pay Actually Down in the Past Year

President Obama has made hitting CEO pay a standard point in his speeches, even mentioning it in his G-20 press conference.

Equilar, a research firm working for the New York Times, finds that median pay for the nation’s CEOs dropped 9.4 percent from last year; the average pay is down 5.4 percent.

Some of this is a reflection of compensation in the form of stock options being worth less, as many companies’ stock prices have declined in the past year.
