The Good News: Doesn’t Look Like Terrorism. The Bad News: What Was It, Then?

At this point, there is no indication of terrorism playing a factor in yesterday’s Minneapolis bridge disaster. I’ll admit, hearing the timing of the collapse (rush hour) and the overwhelming scale of the destruction in the first helicopter footage, that thought crossed my mind.

Of course, a non-terrorism cause of the disaster is perhaps even more disturbing. How did these authorities, engineers, etc., not see such a massive collapse coming?
UPDATE: Some stunning video of the bridge’s collapse, caught on tape by a security camera, can be found here.
