I’m not one of those types who thinks that Bush and Cheney appearing at the GOP convention will cause voters to flee in droves from McCain. But if Hurricane Gustav makes landfall on the Gulf Coast this weekend, what are the chances that Bush (and Cheney?) cancel their convention appearances and go directly to the region to inspect the damage and monitor relief efforts?
