Hawaii’s Democrats: One Big Lovefest

In Hawaii’s special House election, two well-known Democrats will match up against Republican Charles Djou, an advantageous arrangement for Djou. The DCCC allegedly thought about endorsing one of the two, former congressman Ed Case. That apparently has been vetoed by one of Hawaii’s Democratic senators:

Inouye told KITV4 that he talked to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi by phone, to ensure the committee is not leaning toward supporting Case. “I said, you better look at the facts and she said she will. So I’m going to talk to her when I get back to Washington,” Inouye promised.

This probably stems from Case’s 2006 primary challenge to Hawaii’s other Democratic senator, Daniel Akaka, and criticism of his vote against the Iraq War.
