Earlier today, I looked at Hillary’s schedule, and suspected she was pretty much writing off South Carolina. I’m not the only one, as suggested by headlines, “As crucial S.C. vote nears, Hillary Clinton goes elsewhere,” and the New York Times noticing that Bill was campaigning in the state but she wasn’t.
Well, apparently she’s decided she can’t afford to be seen as conceding the state, as her campaign is now announcing:

Campaigning in other states like California, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York suggested that the Clinton campaign was ready to look ahead to Super Duper Tuesday, to make the case that South Carolina was relatively small potatoes. (Easier to dismiss an Obama win there, obviously.) With John Edwards pushing hard and wanting to do well in the state he won in 2004 (and was born in), maybe Hillary’s team saw a third-place finish in the cards?
After all, we’ve seen on the Republican side that when you’re rumored to concede a state, the state’s voters usually abandon you pretty quick…
