John Edwards’ Thoughts on Genocide in Iraq

John Edwards, interviewed by George Stephanopolous this weekend, made clear what we’ve long suspected: a lot of Americans are okay with genocide if it happens in Iraq. I don’t mean in the sense that they approve, but they don’t seem to think that it is worth risking American lives to stop.

We have turned “Never again” into a sad joke for many reasons – Cambodia, the Balkans, Rwanda, the Sudan – but now we’ve got candidates running on a promise to get our troops out of the way of a potential genocidal bloodbath. (Remember this at Edwards’ next Sudan speech.)
