The Campaign Spot

Just What Is ‘Fearmongering’ About the 3 a.m. Ad?

The footage in Hillary’s 3 a.m. ad is from an old commercial for a railroad company. The campaign bought the footage from Getty images. (A half a point to Jen Rubin for speculating it was from a children’s cough medicine commercial.)

The little girl in the ad, now nearly 18, is volunteering for Obama and calls the commercial “fear-mongering.”
Yes, foreign crises that break in the middle of the night are unreasonable concerns to take into account when picking a president.
Apparently if Barack Obama is president, there won’t be any incident that requires the immediate attention of the commander in chief at 3 a.m. Washington time. All threats to Americans at home and aboard will emerge during regular business hours.
