A reader notes that Obama cites energy independence as one of the reasons to pass the stimulus quickly (and presumably as is, since he didn’t mention anything he wanted taken out in the current version), less than 24 hours after his new Interior Secretary canceled oil and gas leases on 77 parcels of federal land–more than 130,000 acres–in Utah.
