Joshua Sharf, a candidate for the State House in Colorado, passed on a bit about the party ID of early voters and absentee ballots in Denver.
In early voting, 25,408 Democrats, 7,369 Republicans, and 14,524 unaffliated have voted. Of course, this is the big city (and the big city that just hosted the Democrats’ national convention). In absentee ballots, they have numbers for absentee ballots returned and those not yet returned. Registered Democrats have returned 64,518, and are awaiting the return of 41,175 of them. Registered Republicans have returned 21,201 of them, and are awaiting another 11,188. Among the unaffliated, 26,913 absentee ballots have been returned, and 25,670 are floating around out there.
Of course, this is Denver, the most heavily Democratic region, or at least congressional district, in the state, what Michael Barone calls “the liberal heart of Colorado.” The Congressional District’s Cook Partisan Voting Index rating as of 2006 was D+18.
Good luck, Joshua.
