Remember that first special election in New York, where a seat slipped through the GOP’s fingers? There’s some movement up there:
State Assemblyman Marc Molinaro is being urged to run for Congress, but the man who once was a 19-year-old mayor isn’t sure he’s going to heed that call. “I’m inclined to continue taking on the challenges and the issues facing New York,” said Molinaro, R-Red Hook. “That said, I wouldn’t want to rule (a run for Congress) out of hand.” He said he would make a final determination within “a few weeks.”
Meanwhile, in North Carolina:
A Gulf War veteran who was charged and then acquitted of shooting two Iraqis, making national news in the process, plans to challenge U.S. Rep. Mike McIntyre, D-N.C., for his seat. Ilario Pantano, who also has worked on Wall Street and as a deputy in the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination on Thursday. The Wilmington resident joins Will Breazeale in seeking the GOP nod. McIntyre has served in Congress since 1997 and cruised to an easy victory over Breazeale in 2008.
Meanwhile, in Michigan Pennsylvania:
As a small-business owner, Donna Reese must carefully manage a budget every day. Reese said she wants to bring that same type of financial accountability to the U.S. House of Representatives. Reese, 44, said Wednesday that she will seek the Republican nomination for the 3rd Congressional District seat in the May 18 primary. The seat is held by Democrat Kathy Dahlkemper, of Erie, who is seeking re-election. to a second term. Reese, of Millcreek Township, owns both General Exterminating and the Erie Small Business Alliance, which lets small business owners network and promote their services.
