The Campaign Spot

Maybe He Meant the Television Show

In Tampa, at a rally — hours after lamenting that the political world behaves like a “political campaign” — Obama is making his pitch and lamenting that the past ten years were a “lost decade.”

That “lost decade” had U.S. unemployment between 4 and 6 percent for most of it. Maybe the rest of this decade will be wonderful, but last year was rough, this year isn’t looking so good, and economists aren’t exactly predicting wonders for 2011. That “Lost Decade” is going to look more and more like “the good old days” at our current pace.

UPDATE: Talking about the new financial fee, “the banks should want it, because it will create greater stability in the system.” Those darn banks, not knowing their own best interest! Thank goodness Barack Obama is here to show them the way!
