Minnesota? Fair to Middling on the Blue State Target List

Talked to a really well-plugged in Minnesotan, who was divided and ultimately skeptical on whether the McCain camp should make a push in this state. Three recent polls put McCain within the margin of error, but Obama is “a machine” in terms of grassroots turnout. He’ll probably get an extra point or two from the sheer enthusiasm among young people and college students, although there remains significant skepticism from Democratic-leaning elderly voters and in rural parts of the state. The state gets attention because Bush finished reasonably close twice, but there’s probably lower-hanging fruit elsewhere – Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Hampshire…
