From the president’s schedule:
Later in the afternoon, the President will accept an award from a coalition of good government groups and transparency advocates to recognize “his deep commitment to an open and transparent government–of, by, and for the people” in conjunction with Sunshine Week. There will be a pool spray at the top.
“Pool spray” means a quick photo-op; sometimes they are as brief as 30 seconds. In other words, there is no Q&A scheduled for the event in which the president is given an award for his commitment to open and transparent government.
For the second time in 24 hours, I’m reminded of “Yes, Prime Minister.”
Sir Humphrey: How are things at the Campaign for the Freedom of Information, by the way?
Sir Arnold: Sorry, I can’t talk about that.
UPDATE: The openness-in-government event is canceled, citing changes to the president’s schedule. Interpret that as you wish.
