Earlier today, assessing the performance of the NRCC, I wrote, “The NRCC’s fundraising strikes me as okay for a tough economy. Raising cash is just harder when you’re in the minority.”
Maybe not that much harder. Today we learn the NRCC raised $7.1 million in April, outraising the DCCC by $2 million. The good news for the NRCC is that they have $11.4 millon in the bank, nearly $5 million more than they had on hand at this point in 2008. But the bad news is that the DCCC still has $27.3 million cash on hand, though they’re well behind two years go: They had $45 million in the bank after May 2008.
