Obama: Gas Prices Are At an All-Time High, Except For Two Months Ago

From Obama’s latest e-mail to supporters:

The economy hit a new low this week, and in every part of the country, people like you are feeling it.
The recent financial disasters — from the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to the historic drop in the stock market — are not just a string of bad luck. They are the result of years of bad decisions made in favor of big corporate special interests instead of America’s working families.
More than 600,000 Americans have lost their jobs since January. Home foreclosures are skyrocketing, and home values are plunging. Gas prices are at an all-time high, and we’re still spending more than $10 billion every month on a war in Iraq that should never have been waged.

(Of course, if Obama’s that upset about the $10 billion per month, it raises the question of why he told the Iraqi Foreign Minister to hold off on final negotiations with the U.S. government for another six months.)
(And foreclosures are up at least partially because lots of people put no money down and bought more house than they could afford, and home values are plunging because the supply of available housing is still way ahead of demand. But I digress…)
Anyway, with that line about the gas prices, they’re at “an all-time high,” except for two months ago, when they were 28 cents a gallon more expensive…

The average price of unleaded regular dropped 2 cents to $3.835 a gallon, according to the survey released Thursday by motorist group AAA.
On Tuesday, oil prices tumbled to a seven-month low as the crisis on Wall Street spooked a market already skittish about a globals slowdown. Oil prices have plunged more than $10 a barrel over the past two days.
Meanwhile, drivers had just started breathing a sigh of relief as gas prices appeared to be moving further and further away from the record high price of $4.114 a gallon set July 17.
But gas prices have now gained for eight days in a row. While prices remain 6.3% down from the July high, they are still up $1.06, or 38%, from a year earlier

When Americans are feeling financial pain, Team Obama knows better than to hit them up for a donation. Instead, they’re just asking them to forward a video to friends.
