Adam Smith, political editor of the Saint Petersburg Times, offers a striking thought: “Never imagined 8 mos ago: George LeMieux would be in Senate, and Crist might not. And that LeMieux might endorse Rubio, over independent Crist.”
I’d note that local columnists contend “while he won’t admit it, [LeMieux] is obviously planning to run for the Senate in 2012 against Bill Nelson.”
LeMieux is getting pretty good marks as a temporary Senator; how much of a shot would he have in a GOP Senate primary in 2012 if he backed Crist over Rubio?
