Preliminary Results in IL-05 Special House Election Are . . . Eh, About What We Expected

Some preliminary results are in for that special election in Illnois’s 5th District. Turnout was astonishingly low, as readers’ anecdotal reports suggested today — 20,698, or under 7 percent of eligible voters. Unfortunately for those who hoped that it might make for a closer race, Democrat Mike Quigley is ahead, 15,181 to Republican Rosanna Pulido’s 3,948, a 73 percent to 19 percent split, with the Green candidate collecting the rest.
