Public Support for Unions Drops to All-Time Low

A year ago, Gallup asked Americans, “Do you approve or disapprove of labor unions?” and 59 percent said they approved and only 31 percent said they disapproved.
Gallup has been asking this question since 1936, and support has ranged from 75 percent in 1957 to 55 percent in 1981.
Until now, that is. This August, they asked the same question and found 48 percent approved, and 45 percent disapproved.
