Quick RNC Race Update

A couple of developments before voting in the RNC race begins Friday: Ken Blackwell picks up the support of the three RNC members from Guam; Newt Gingrich, who is not a voting member but whose name still carries some weight in RNC circles, backs Michael Steele.

In terms of public endorsements, incumbent Mike Duncan is way ahead with 35 (not counting himself); Steele, Blackwell, Dawson, and Anuzis are in the mid to upper teens. Chip Saltsman is still looking for his first.

UPDATE: I’m hearing from Newt’s people that he hasn’t endorsed anyone in the RNC race; the letter cited by other media that created the reports of his support of Steele, is actually from Randy Evans – a longtime Gingrich ally and confidant.
