RGA: Raising Greenbacks Abundantly

The Republican Governors Association had a pretty darn good couple of months:

The Republican Governors Association announced its largest fundraising quarter in history today. The RGA has raised $18.9 million for the 2nd quarter, bringing its fundraising haul for the year to $28 million. The RGA currently holds $40 million cash on hand after spending $10 million in political expenditures for the year.

“The Republican Governors Association has the momentum, message and money needed to make massive gains this November,” said RGA Executive Director Nick Ayers. “From Oregon to Maine, the quality of our candidates combined with our substantial resources put us on offense in a record number of states.”

The RGA’s previous largest fundraising quarter occurred in the 4th quarter of 2009, when it raised $11.9 million. This quarter RGA raised $18.9 million.

The RGA’s former mid-year fundraising record was $15.1 million. RGA is at $28 million this year — almost double the earlier record.

In 2006, the last comparable election year, the RGA raised $28 million for the entire year.

That’s good news for Meg Whitman, Rick Perry, Jan Brewer, John Kasich, Bob Ehrlich, Bill Brady, Nikki Haley, Brian Sandoval, Brian Dubie, Tom Corbett, Chris Dudley, Susana Martinez, Scott McInnis, and a host of others . . .
