SC State Legislators Fear Sanford Has Right to Turn Down Stimulus Funds

Down in South Carolina, state legislators are publicly expressing fears that the provision of the stimulus bill that allows them to overrule their governor and accept rejected stimulus funds won’t hold up in court.

Gov. Mark Sanford has said he does not want roughly $350 million in stimulus funds this year, roughly $700 million over two years. As passed, South Carolina would get about $2 billion over the next two years.
