Simmons: I Should Beat Dodd’s Number of In-State Donors Tenfold in 24 Hours, Easy

I asked Rob Simmons, a former congressman from Connecticut, about his response to the news that the senator he’s aiming to beat in 2010, Chris Dodd, only received five donations from residents of that state in the first three months of the year.

“I have challenged my supporters to get more than five donors by close of business today — and I bet we get 50!” Simmons said. “In fact, we already have more than 50 in just a few weeks even without a single ’shake down’ event or solicitation. This shows clearly where Dodd’s support is — everywhere but here in Connecticut. It also shows where his interest is — every where but here in Connecticut.”

Patrick Ruffini e-mails, “Simmons more than matched Dodd’s first quarter performance from Connecticut donors in the first few minutes this email was out.  And he’s going to personally call five who contribute in the next day.”
