Special Congressional Election in Chicago: 12 Votes in Two Hours?

Earlier in the day, I mentioned a few readers’ reports of extraordinarily low turnout in the special election in Illinois’ Fifth District. A reader of Ace of Spades offers a similar tale: “When I voted at 8 AM, the polls had been open two hours already, in the busiest part of the day, and only 12 ballots had been cast, including mine.”

Polls close at 7 p.m. local time. If you’re in that district, head out and vote. You could have a much bigger impact than usual today.

UPDATE: Wow. How low is turnout? Rahm Emanuel — the guy whose resignation from Congress started all this — forgot to vote.
