Colin Powell has donated to John McCain. His spokesman says it does not constitute an endorsement, but Powell has not given to any other candidate.
It’s for the max – $2,300 – and it’s fairly recent. Powell has to know the publicity value of his name being connected to McCain, and the fact that McCain needs all the cash and good news he can get right now.
McCain’s campaign is at or near the bottom of the first tier, but it’s far from dead.
